The Iowa Conference regular season baseball race will be decided on the final weekend. Coe leads the league race with a record of 15-7 and will finish with a three game series at Simpson beginning Friday. The Storm sit in third place at 13-7.

Simpson coach Benn Blake says it’s a tough conference to figure out who to pick as he says you can beat someone and they beat a team with a better record. He says it has been “a crazy year.” Blake says all his team can be concerned about is winning as he says they lost a game where they had their destiny in their own hands. Now if they win three games they can win a bye in the conference tournament.

Wartburg is second in the conference race and coach Joel Holst’s team plays Loras in a three game series this weekend. He says the conference season has been interesting, and he says there’s probably not a great team, but a number of good teams. Holst says the league race will depend on who gets hot.

Holst says finishing in the top two will be an advantage when the Iowa Conference tournament begins. He says the tournament was designed to protect the one and two seeds, so it is critical to win games this weekend and finish with one of the top two seeds.

Buena Vista is in fourth place with a record of 13-8. The top six teams qualify for the conference tournament.
