The Iowa National Guard has just announced four Iowa National Guard soldiers were injured Wednesday in Afghanistan.  

The four Iowa National Guard soldiers were wounded in “combat operations” when their vehicle was struck by a bomb according to a statement from the military.

All four are under the age of 30.  The youngest soldier injured is 18-year-old Tanner Williams of Tama.  The oldest is 26-year-old Benjamin Ward of Rowley.  Twenty-one-year-old Jacob Hutchinson of Cedar Rapids and 23-year-old Chisum Frisch of Cedar Falls were also injured in the incident. 

 The Iowa National Guard statement did not include information about the extent of the injuries to the soldiers, or where exactly the bombing occurred in Afghanistan. 

More than 2,800 Iowa National Guard soldiers shipped out to Afghanistan last summer.  Three Iowa Guard soldiers have been killed during the deployment.
