Movie-goers in the Council Bluffs area have a new option for the Memorial Day weekend.

Guy Marcoux is a spokesman for D-Box Technologies which has found a new way to entertain film fans — by actually shaking them in their seats.

“We literally draw people into the action as if they were part of the movie itself,” Marcoux says. “Your seat will move in perfect sync with what is happening on the screen.”

Marcoux uses the example of the new “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie where you can feel like you are actually on the ship with Captain Jack Sparrow.

“What we’re trying to do is replicate everything you would feel in real life without crossing that line of a theme-park ride,” he says. “We’re trying to blend in perfectly with the movie without distracting you from it.”

Marcoux says films continue to evolve and the motion seats provide a more realistic movie-viewing experience.

He says, “We would like to say we’re the natural evolution of cinema after surround sound and 3-D, the next logical step for us is motion.”

Each seat has an intensity adjustment setting to increase or decrease the motion effect.

The seats are now inside theaters at the Rave Movie Theater located at Westroads Mall in Omaha. Sitting in a motion seat adds about $8 to the price of a movie ticket at the Rave.
