Assessing blame has become one of the hallmarks of the stalled state budget talks at the statehouse.

After more than a month of behind-the-scenes meetings, no agreemeent between leaders of the two political parties has emerged. So House Republicans will meet Thursday to discuss the idea of folding the GOP’s entire state budget plan into one bill and passing it early next week. Democrats in the Senate use the name “Frankenstein” to describe “stitching together” such a huge piece of legislation and they vow to reject it.

A key Republican in the House, meanwhile, accuses Democrats of trying to “sabotage” a budget deal.

Republicans control the debate agenda in the House; Democrats control the Senate and the two sides have been battling over the size of the state budget.  Republicans accuse Democrats of wanting to spend too much. Democrats accuse Republicans of wanting to spend too little.
