A man wanted in connection with the shooting of a western Iowa woman late last week was arrested this weekend in central Missouri. Authorities in Morgan County, Missouri say 50-year old Craig Finney of Macedonia, Iowa was taken into custody Saturday morning. He was at a home where deputies found a stolen SUV.

Pottawattamie County Sheriff Jeff Danker says Finney was wanted in connection with the Friday morning shooting of 48-year old Patricia Harker at her home in rural Minden.

Danker says authorities in Morgan County were about to execute a search warrant at the home when Finney was observed leaving the residence and was arrested. Finney allegedly broke into Harker’s home at around 2:20 a.m. Friday and fired his shotgun at a man holed-up in a bathroom. He’s accuse shooting Harker in the shoulder. He then shot himself before leaving the scene.

“I just can’t hardly believe that he could make it that far in the condition he had to be in,” Danker said. “I’m sure he has some fairly serious injuries, but I don’t know how bad it is.” Finney was being treated for his injuries at a facility in Missouri.

When he’s eventually returned to Iowa, Finney will face two charges of attempted murder and one count of willful injury. Finney is Harker’s former boyfriend. A restraining order issued against him in July 2004 was rescinded four-months later. Harker was transported to Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs before being transferred to Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, where she was recovering from serious injuries.
