A Cedar Rapids police officer was arrested as she arrived for work this morning. Police spokesperson Officer Melissa Henderson says the arrest follows a report of two dogs that went missing from a home on Cedar Rapids’ northwest side Saturday morning.

Officer Robyn Obadalis accused of illegally entering the home and taking the dogs. Henderson says Obadal was on duty at the time the dogs were taken. The 36-year-old Obadal has been with the Cedar Rapids Police Department since 1997.

She’s charged with third-degree burglary. “She has been placed on unpaid administrative leave, pending an internal investigation,” Henderson said. Police are not commenting about what led them to Obadal or what she has told investigators about the incident.
