The Football Championship Subdivision playoffs could be expanding, again. In 2010, the playoff field expanded from 16 to 20 teams and Missouri Valley Football Commissioner Patty Viverito says a committee will be meeting next week to discuss further expansion.

Viverito says the expansion was driven by the automatic qualification for two conferences and there wasn’t room for them. She is in favor of adding more teams to the field. Vivertio hopes adding more access is important enough that they will move toward expansion, but she admits that financing will remain a challenge.

Last year three Valley teams, UNI, Western Illinois and North Dakota State made the FCS playoffs.
