Former Mason-City Newman prep, Tyler Moorehead, is one of the seniors who’ll lead the Drake Bulldog defense this season. They lost the PFL Player of the Year, Dain Taylor, and two other starting defensive linemen, and got a new coordinator. Moorehead says they are adjusting to those changes.

Moorehead says they are still learning some things with the new guys and the new coordinator. He says the Africa trip allowed them to have a trial run to mesh together. The defense has been the unit the team has relied on the most in the last few years, but Moorehead says that is changing. He says the offense has been looking really strong, but they like to get some turnovers and set the tone for them so they don’t always have to rely on the offense.

Moorehead realizes this is going to be his last season of college football. He says they have talked about it and all the seniors have talked about going out with a bang and winning. Moorehead says they want to turn around the close losses into wins.

He says it’s been the same story the last few years, they are up by three and end up losing a heartbreaking game. Moorehead says they have a catch phrase “just finish” as they want to finish the games they’ve started.

Drake opens the season on Thursday September 1st at North Dakota.
