The Iowa Tourism Office is reminding Iowans about a drawing in which people can win travel packages valued at up to $500. Spokesperson Shawna Lode says the “I Dig Iowa” promotion was launched in April. “And we had planned to conclude it in August, but we’ve had such a great response that we’ve actually been able to add a prize package and continue the contest through September,” Lode said.

People can register to win by logging on to www.IDIGIOWA.com. Prizes packages already awarded included overnight stays in Newton, Okoboji, Waterloo and Iowa City.

The prize to be awarded at the end of August includes a stay at the last remaining hotel designed by Frank Lloyd Wright – located in Mason City.

Lode says the Mason City package also includes tickets to various attractions, a $50 restaurant gift certificate and a $50 gas card. The September prize package involves a hotel and attractions in Des Moines.

Visitors to the Iowa State Fair can also win Iowa Tourism prizes. Lode says, on August 19, they’ll have tent on the Grand Concourse where fairgoers can dig through a giant tub of corn. “People can stop by and dig through a large tub to find prizes in Iowa that include gift certificates to restaurants, overnight stays in hotels and lots of other Iowa tourism oriented prizes,” Lode said.
