A Secret Service agent was arrested by Decorah police and charged with drunk driving over the weekend. Decorah Police Chief Bill Nixon says the arrest happened early Saturday morning and the agent was off duty.

Court records show 40-year-old Daniel Valencia of Washington, D.C. was pulled over after running a red light at about 1:30 a.m.

He was arrested after refusing to take a preliminary breath test and refusing to give a breath sample at the jail. Valencia was released from jail Monday and has a court date scheduled for September 1st in Decorah. President Obama visited Decorah on Monday.
