Governor Branstad’s staff attorney is asking some of the state’s business leaders to call attention to the most egregious state rules and regulations. Brenna Findley, the governor’s legal counsel, spoke Tuesday at an environmental conference sponsored by the Iowa Association of Business and Industry.

“I need your help in order to get that done,” Findley said. “It’s a lot of work. I’m just one person. I don’t even know if it’s possible for one person to fully understand all the laws and rules that would govern state government, not to mention understand all the science, the specialized science in a number of these areas.”

Regulatory reform can help stimulate job creation, according to Findley, who promised the business group that Governor Branstad is fighting to eradicate the “gotcha” mentality among state bureaucrats who regulate business.
