Charges are pending following an accident in West Des Moines Tuesday that left four people dead. Police say four women from West Des Moines were in a car that was struck by a semi when the driver of the truck failed to stop for a traffic light near the Des Moines Golf and County Club.

The driver of the car, 86-year-old Arlene Laughlin, and a passenger 85-year-old Frances Sechler, died at the scene. Two other passengers, 83-year-old Marilyn Harper and 95-year-old Margaret Bannister, were taken to the hospital and later died from their injuries.

The driver of the semi, 43-year-old Kenneth Snow of Lockridge, Iowa, was not injured.
