The Iowa Department of Justice says two Division of Criminal Investigation agents are cleared of any wrongdoing in last month’s shooting incident involving a Forest City policeman.

D.C.I. special agents Chris Calloway and Steve Peterson went to the home of 34-year-old Thaddeus Ellenbecker on the night of October 20th after interviewing him earlier at the Winnebago County Sheriff’s office about an October 1st fire at the Forest City Police Department.

According to the report, it was Calloway who struggled with Ellenbecker, with Peterson shooting Ellenbecker in the upper thigh after not being able to pull him off of Calloway. Ellenbecker remains in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $20,000 bond after being charged with second-degree arson and second-degree burglary.

Ellenbecker is due in court for his initial appearance on Friday. According to online court records, his attorney has filed a motion to have his bond reduced.
