Iowa State defensive coordinator Wally Burnham feels experience is a major factor in the Cyclones improvement on defense. I.S.U. is giving up just under 30 points per game this season but have yielded only a total of 17 the last two weeks in victories over Texas Tech and Kansas.

He says the secondary, line and linebackers all have guys who have played and that helps as they prepare to win games. The Cyclones are idle until a November 18th game against Oklahoma State and Burnham wants the defense to use the extra time to make even more strides.

Burham says they will work against their own offense and some against the scout team like they do every week. He says they don’t want to jump in right away with Oklahom State work, as the team can lose interest. He says they will work on other things working up to that.

Iowa State is 5-4 overall.
