A teenager was seriously injured when the car he was driving collided with a Van Buren Community school bus this morning in southeast Iowa. The accident was reported around 8 a.m. north of Lebanon in rural Van Buren County.

The school bus, driven by 47-year-old Steven J. Duke, was traveling north bound on County Road V-64 when it collided head on with a south bound car driven by a 17-year-old boy from Douds. The teen driver was transported to the Van Buren County Hospital with serious injuries before being flown to University Hospitals in Iowa City.

His name and condition have not been released. Duke was not injured. The students on the bus were taken to Van Buren County Hospital as a precaution, but none of the students appeared to have serious injuries.
