Drake hosts Iowa State in the 171st meeting in the series. The Bulldogs have won three of the last five games in the series but the Cyclones won last year’s matchup 91-48 in Ames.

Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg says they came out and got off to a great start and kept up the intensity throughout the game. He says the lesson for the team is that if you play hard throughout the game like they did, it makes you a hard team to beat.

The Cyclones opened the season with a victory over Lehigh while the Bulldogs beat Upper Iowa. Hoiberg says Drake will be ready to play in front of their home fans and his team has to be ready. The Cyclones want to push the tempo and Hoiberg says the key is rebounding on the defensive end and filling the lanes.

Hoiberg says when they rebound they have different people who can push the ball up the floor and don’t have to rely on just one. He says they do need to do a better job of recognizing who has the ball and getting out in transition.

It’s an eight o’clock tip off in the Knapp Center and will be part of a doubleheader that opens with the womens game at five.
