The Drake women pulled away with a late 8-0 run as they posted a 65-54 victory at Wisconsin. Rachel Hackbarth led the Bulldogs with 20 points and 11 rebounds but defense was the story of the game. The Bulldogs limited the Badgers to just 35 percent from the field, including six of 25 from three point range.

Drake coach Amy Stephens gave credit to her assistant coaches for the game plan. Stephens on her post game show on KRNT in Des Moines said those coaches did a great job with the plan and then the players followed through and executed it.

Wisconsin led 45-44 but the Bulldogs scored the next eight points and went on to post their third straight win. “we just wanted it more and you could really see that in the final eight minutes of the game,” Stephens says. She says the coaches challenged the players to take the game in a time out as they hit the eight minute mark and they responded.

The Bulldogs outrebounded the Badgers 33-28 as they improve to 4-4 on the season.
