The Iowa basketball team is squeezing in a few practices between final exams. The Hawkeyes are 5-5 after a ten point loss at Iowa State and return to action on Saturday night at home against Drake.

Junior guard Eric May says it helps to relax and get rid of the stress when you can get into practice. The Hawkeyes lost two in-state matchups last week and hope to get one in the win column against Drake. “These last two days we’ve been working really hard and everybody’s has been getting after it, it’s getting where it needs to be,” May says.

Senior guard Matt Gatens says the time off has been beneficial from a health standpoint. “We’ve had a few injuries and eight days off is great,” Gatens says. He says the time off gives them time to heal and work on some things.
