Top ranked in class 3A the South Tama girls basketball team will try to stay unbeaten on Friday night when the Trojans host Conrad BCLUW. South Tama improved to 7-0 this week with a 54-36 victory over South Hardin and six-four senior Madison Baier leads the way by averaging 17 points and more than eight rebounds per game.

Trojans coach Nate Roberts says Baier has a lot of help. “On any given night I think that somebody can lead the team in scoring, but what I am looking for more is consistency in other areas, defensively, rebounding and trying to get somebody consistent with assists,” Roberts says.

Roberts says his teams have been forced to adjust to a variety of defenses designed to slow Baier down. He says they will be playing some tough 3A and 2A teams and they will likely not play “junk” defenses, and it hurts them because they are not used to running their regular sets.
