No serious injuries are reported after a Rock Valley School District bus tipped over on a county road in northwest Iowa on Wednesday morning. The Sioux County Sheriff’s office says the bus was southbound on a lane owned by Inspiration Hills Camp and the driver, 48-year-old Arlis Van Den Berg of Rock Valley became distracted by students on the bus.

The bus left the roadway and rolled onto its driver’s side. Van Den Berg was taken by private vehicle to Hegg Medical Clinic in Rock Valley for treatment of minor injuries. There were 9 children on the bus at the time, ranging in age from 5 to 15. Two children were taken to the clinic by private vehicle for non incapacitating injuries.

The rest of the students were picked up by another Rock Valley School district bus and transported to school. There was approximately $30,000 in damage to the bus and $100 damage to a fence.

The sheriff’s office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol. The accident remains under investigation.
