Two Emmetsburg women are charged with lottery fraud after a three-month investigation. The investigation began in October by Emmetsburg Police after receiving a report of suspicious activity at the Hometown Convenience Store.

Police allege 64-year-old Carol Frederick and 46-year-old Tammy Hasbrouck stole lottery tickets from the store’s dispenser. Police say the thefts were captured by surveillance cameras. Both women were employees of the store.

Both women were charged with eight counts of lottery fraud, one count of money laundering, and one count of ongoing criminal conduct. In addition, Hasbrouck was charged with two counts of second-degree theft.

Hasbrouck was jailed on an $85,000 bond. Frederick was jailed on a $75,000 bond. Preliminary hearings have been scheduled for both women on January 30th.

Police were assisted in the investigation by Iowa Lottery investigators.
