Despite suffering a loss at Bradley on Sunday U.N.I. coach Ben Jacobsen says the Panthers have played well since an 0-2 start in Missouri Valley Conference play. The Panthers take a 3-4 league record into tonight’s game at home against Wichita State and Jacobsen says they have made a lot of progress in the last five games.

“I think that’s a real key for the team that we have right now, we’ve got some young guys and we’ve got some older guys in new roles, and for the most part they’ve done a good job,” Jacobsen says.

At 6-1, Wichita State is tied with Creighton at the top of the league standings. “they do so many things at a high level, they’re defending very well, they rebound the basketball very well, offensively they know what they want to get done,” Jacobsen says.

And the Shockers have been virtually unbeatable away from home. They have won 12 of their last 13 Valley games on the road, including a 4-0 mark this year. Jacobsen says it helps having the experience as a group in those situations and coming through, as it gives you the confidence to play on the road.
