A three game winning streak has moved the Luther men to top of the Iowa Conference basketball standings. The Norse improved to 7-1 in the league race with a 67-61 victory at Central Wednesday night and opened the week by handing Dubuque its first conference loss with a 66-44 win.

Luther coach Mark Franzen says it was the best defensive effort of the season by his club based on their positioning and doing what they want to do in the scheme against a talented team. Luther returns to action on Saturday against Cornell.

The Norse beat the Rams last Saturday in Mount Vernon. Franzen says they have some good players and you have to play good defense against them, or they will hurt you.

Saturday’s game will complete a busy four-game week. Franzen says it has not been ideal to hold practice while having 4 games in 7 days, so he says the team has to be attentive and work to get ready for the next game, and they have done that.
