The Jasper County Animal Rescue League has a cat available for adoption that has quite a story to tell. Rescue League director, Emily Bostwick, says they got a call at the end of January about a cat on the road very close to their building.

Someone was sent to check it out. “The cat is acting really weird and they walk up to it and it’s frozen to the road. The cat’s frozen to the road. I mean there are leaves frozen in the cat’s fur, I mean it’s just an icicle of a cat,” Bostwick explains.

Rescue League officers were able to free the cat from the road, and after seeing the vet and taking some antibiotics, the animal has made a complete recovery.

“Going through all that, you’d think he’d be quite the little crazy guy, but he’s just the most affectionate cat you would have ever seen, and he’s gorgeous, long-haird black tabby and white, and all four paws are white,” Bostwick says. They named him Murphy.

Bostwick says she’d never before seen a cat frozen to something and was amazed at Murphy’s quick recovery. “It’s been quite a interesting experience bouncing that guy back from what he was when he first came in,” Bostwick says. She says Murphy’s paws don’t even bother him now.

You can contact the Jasper County Animal Rescue League and Humane Society if you are interested in adopting Murphy or another animal.
