Slick roads are blamed for an early-morning accident that involved a school bus hauling kids to a Clinton elementary school. Clinton police report the bus slid on a snow-covered street and the rear quarter of the bus hit a utility pole on the residential street.

Four students were transported from the scene for evaluation of minor injuries and a fifth was taken the hospital after arriving at school. Police did not issue any citations to the school bus driver, citing the cause of the accident as the snow- and ice-covered roads.

Superintendent Deb Olson praised the work of those throughout the process. As a district, Olson said, we will be reviewing this accident and try to learn from these situations and prevent them from happening in the future.
