The Iowa State Cyclones begin the week tied for third in the Big 12 race and firmly in control of their NCAA Tournament hopes. The Cyclones are 9-5 in the Big 12, 19-8 overall and return to action on Wednesday night at home against Texas Tech.

Iowa coach Fred Hoiberg says they have learned from mistakes they made earlier in the year and if they have games where they make mistakes, they come into practice and work on correcting those things. He says a strength of this team is its unselfish play and it begins with sophomore forward Royce White.

“When you best player has that mentality of being very unselfish and not caring who gets the glory, it rubs off, so it’s been good,” Hoiberg says. The Cyclones had 28 assists on 28 field goals Saturday.

Hoiberg says unselfish play spreads and as the season has gone on, the guys on the team are really trusting each other.
