Three lives were lost in three separate traffic accidents in Iowa over the weekend, and all involved two-wheelers. The most recent crash happened late yesterday afternoon in the Linn County town of Ely.

A moped driver there lost control and crashed on a rural road not far from the Cedar River. The victim’s name has not been released.

Earlier in the afternoon, another fatal moped crash claimed the life of 76-year-old Robert Leatherman. Waterloo police say he ran a red light and crashed into a car. He suffered head and chest injuries and was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

And in Marion on Saturday, a motorcycle and an SUV collided, killing the 18-year-old motorcycle driver and critically injuring a passenger. The victim’s name has not been released.
