One person was killed in a crash in north-central Iowa. The Iowa State Patrol investigated a two-car accident Tuesday afternoon on U.S.Highway 169 five miles north of Fort Dodge that claimed the life of a Humboldt motorist.

The victim is identified as 76-year-old Jane M. Hansel. Reportedly a 2005 Buick Lacrosse driven by Hansel was traveling south at the time when it crossed the center line striking a northbound 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 19-year-old Michael Norland of Algona. The Hansel car entered the east ditch while the Norland car came to a stop in the northbound lane of traffic.

Hansel was pronounced dead at the accident scene while Norland was transported to a Fort Dodge hospital for treatment of his injuries.
