A Decorah teenager died in an accident last night.

The Iowa State Patrol says shortly after 10 p.m. a vehicle driven by 16-year-old Melody Simmonds of Decorah drove off Highway 52 and rolled several times down the ditch. She was pronounced dead at the scene. It was the fourth fatality reported statewide over the Memorial Day weekend.

A passenger in the vehicle — a 16-year-old boy from Elkader — was extricated from the SUV and taken to a hospital in Waukon. He was then flown to a hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
