The Jackson County Minnesota sheriff’s office says a northwest Iowa woman has died and her husband is in critical condition after a motorcycle accident just across the Minnesota state line in Jackson County Saturday. They report that 35-year-old Brian Engelkes of Sheldon was driving his motorcycle with his wife, 39-year-old Michelle Engelkes, when the motorcycle entered the north ditch and struck a driveway embankment.
Both Engelkes were ejected from the motorcycle and were not wearing helmets. Both were airlifted to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where Michelle Engelkes died Monday.
Brian Engelkes is still listed in critical condition at Avera McKennan.
