Motorists traveling on Interstate 35 this weekend can expect to get pulled over.

The Iowa State Patrol says it’ll have a vehicle safety inspection checkpoint at the rest area north of Clear Lake at mile marker 196 in the northbound lanes starting at 2 o’clock Saturday afternoon.

The Patrol says troopers will be flagging vehicles in groups of 10 and directing them into the inspection area. They also are planning to have a lane for inspecting commercial motor vehicles and three to four lanes for motor vehicles.

The mission of the checkpoint is to check vehicles to ensure all the safety equipment is working properly, as well as to check drivers’ licenses, registration plates and insurance cards.

The State Patrol will be assisted at the checkpoint by numerous local law enforcement agencies.
