Authorities have now identified a rural Estherville man who died Monday afternoon after he was trapped under a riding lawn mower. The Emmet County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an unresponsive man trapped under a lawn mower at a residence just south of Estherville.

Sheriff Mike Martens says 57-year-old Timothy Mann was freed from under the mower by the caller and another person at the residence and they started CPR. Mann was taken by ambulance to Avera Holy Family Hospital in Estherville where he was pronounced dead. Martens says it’s believed that a John Deere garden tractor was being rolled down a ramp from a trailer when Mann became entrapped underneath it.

Mann’s body has been transferred to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Ankeny for an autopsy.
