A judge has ruled that the Iowa Board of Regents can go ahead with the closure of the Price Lab School in Cedar Falls. That was the ruling handed down by Waterloo judge Alan Pearson today as he dismissed a lawsuit brought by a group of Price Lab parents and teachers.

Pearson says that the Board of Regents has the legal authority to close the school, which the suit had argued against. As a result of the Board’s vote and today’s ruling, Price Lab will close at the end of this week.

The University of Northern Iowa had operated Price Lab as a training school for teachers, but University President Ben Allen decided earlier this year to recommend the closing of Price Lab as a part of larger budget cuts at U.N.I.
