A corporate name Iowa farmers have known for decades is changing. Founded by Henry Wallace in 1926 to market hybrid seed corn, Pioneer Hi-Bred has been known by that name since 1936, with the only change of adding “International” back in 1970.

Chemical giant DuPont bought Pioneer in 1999 and is now adding its name to the title. The new name is DuPont Pioneer.

The green logo, depicting a three-leaf sprout emerging from two seed halves, will also change slightly. The company employs 3,400 people in Iowa, including 2,800 at its headquarters in Johnston.
