Investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire that destroyed two semi trucks last night in Grinnell. Firefighters were called out at 9:30 and found two semis were fully involved in fire inside a large metal building, and the fire also extended to a loft above the trucks.

Firefighters were hampered by a water main break. Twenty-three Grinnell firefighters responded and were assisted by 18 firefighters from the Gilman, Malcom and Kellogg fire departments. Because of the high temperatures, crews were rotated into a cooling and re-hydrating station.

One firefighter was taken to the Grinnell Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released for a hand injury. The initial damage estimate is one quarter million dollars.
