Drake Martin

A longtime University of Northern Iowa administrator died over the weekend while hiking at a state park. Sixty-two-year old Drake Martin died on Saturday after a fall from a cliff at Backbone State Park in Delaware County.

Sheriff’s officials there say he was hiking along Devil’s Backbone Trail, which is one of the highest points in northeast Iowa. Officials say he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Martin had been with U.N.I. for 30 years, and was the assistant director of residence education.
