The State Board of Regents approved a 2% increase in the salaries for the presidents of the three state-supported universities. The increases were announced today after a full day of closed door evaluations Thursday.

With the new increase University of Northern Iowa President Ben Allen, who also announced his retirement today, will earn a base salary of $339,456. Allen said prior to the announcement that if he received a raise he would donate it back to the school.

University of Iowa President Sally Mason’s base salary increased to $493,272 and Iowa State University President Steven Leath, who assumed the role earlier this year, saw his base salary increase to $448,800.

Patrick Clancy, the superintendent of the Iowa School for the Deaf and Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School, also received a 2% increase in his base salary. Clancy received a $25,000 increase in March when he took on the additional role of overseeing the Iowa School for the Deaf.
