Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney raised something in the neighborhood of $2 million from a campaign fundraiser in central Iowa this evening.

The event was closed to the public, but a Des Moines Register reporter was allowed to attend and relay information to other news outlets. About 280 tickets were sold for the fundraiser. Couples who paid at least $10,000 stood in line to have a photo taken with Romney. Romney spoke to the entire crowd for about 17-minutes, touching on everything from the Midwest drought to his recent trip overseas and blasting President Obama for making “mistakes that didn’t get the country going” economically.

Romney is scheduled to hold a public event in downtown Des Moines Wednesday morning, starting at about 8:30.
