Update: The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office identifies the girl as 10-year-old Zannah Garrett of Omaha, Nebraska.

A child that was reported missing early this morning near Charles City has been found. The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office received a call shortly after midnight that a 10-year-old girl went missing, just south east of Charles City.

Deputies say the child had been camping with her 8-year-old brother in the backyard of a house when the parents checked on them, only to find the 8-year-old boy alone. Deputies responded and immediately searched the area with no luck. Other agencies were called in to help with the search.

Authorities also used the Code Red system to alert residents within the area. At about 2:30 this morning, a group of public safety searchers located the injured girl lying on the ground in a doorway of a horse barn about a mile northwest of where she went missing.

She was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
