A Grundy County woman is sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to texting while driving during a hit-and-run crash. Former U.N.I. student Jennifer Moeller of Holland was leaving some Homecoming weekend festivities last October when she began texting while driving along Highway 57 west of Cedar Falls.

The 22-year-old from the Grundy County town of Holland then crossed the center line and hit a motorcycle driven by Joan Nicholson of Waterloo. Nicholson lost her leg as a result of the crash. Moeller plead guilty on two charges back in April.

She’s been given a five year prison sentence on a charge of causing a serious injury accident. She also had an additional two years tacked onto her sentence for pleading guilty to leaving the scene of the crash.
