Dordt College football coach Greg Youngblood believes patience will pay dividends. Youngblood takes over a program entering its fifth year of varsity football and the Defenders have won a total of two games the last two years.

Youngblood says there’s a lot of potential at the school and there are a lot of things he can use to recruit good players. Youngblood says it is only a matter of time until it starts experiencing success on the field.

He says he will focus on the process and the results will take care of themselves in due time. More victories begins with better play up front on both sides of the ball. Last season, the Defenders averaged 94 yards of rushing per game and gave up 215 per contest.

Climbing the ladder won’t be easy in the Great Plains Athletic Conference. Dordt has just one league victory in four seasons of varsity football. “We’re going to get a good measuring stick every week, it’s not like we are going to win a game and not know if we have gotten better,” Younblood says.

Dordt opens the season on September 1st with a visit to Waldorf.
