Steven Addcock
Authorities are searching for an escapee from a prison facility in southeast Iowa. Department of Corrections spokesperson Lettie Prell says Steven Adcock has not been seen since late this morning.
“Adcock was assigned to the minimum security John Bennett Unit in Fort Madison and escaped from a work detail in Keokuk at 11:35 a.m.,” Prell said.
Adcock started serving a 16-year prison sentence in January 2011 for third-degree burglary convictions in Johnson, Clayton and Muscatine Counties and theft, eluding and drug possession convictions in Polk County.
It’s unclear how many inmates were on the work detail, what work they were doing or how many prison staff were supervising at the time Adcock escaped. If anyone spots Adcock, they are asked to call Keokuk Police or the Lee County Sheriff’s office.
Prell described Adcock as a 42-year-old white male, black hair (but bald), brown eyes, 5’10”, 240 pounds, with several tattoos. The John Bennett Unit is part of the correctional complex that includes the Iowa State Penitentiary.
