Prosecutors have dropped sexual assault charges filed against two central Iowa teenagers. David Price of Ames and James Carsel of Boone, both 16, were accused of taking a 17-year-old girl from her Hamilton County home to Peterson Park in Ames, where the alleged assault took place.

Carsel’s attorney, Peter Berger, says video evidence from a convenience store proves the teens could not have committed the crime.

“At the time of the alleged assault at the park, the two juveniles were at a Casey’s getting gas, getting a sandwich and talking to the clerk,” Berger said.

“So, it just couldn’t have happened as alleged.” Story County prosecutors dropped the charges against Price and Carsel after seeing the video. Charges against 20-year-old Mason Reilly of Ames are still pending. Reilly is the ex-boyfriend of the alleged victim.
