The Iowa State Cyclones are getting ready for a brutal stretch in which six of their next eight games are against teams currently ranked in the nations top 25. It begins with this week’s visit to 15th ranked TCU. Senior strong safety Durrell Givens says they view it as an opportunity.

“We actually thrive on playing in the Big 12…so it’s not a bad thing to us,” Givens says. The defense played well in a 24-13 loss to Texas Tech last week and Givens says TCU will offer another tough test.

“They do have the longest winning streak, so they are obviously a good team and know how to execute and win games. We felt that we played well, but could have played better, so we just want to get back work and just prove that we are a top defense,” Givens says.

The Horned Frogs are off to a 4-0 start though coach Gary Patterson says his team has a long ways to go. He says this defense is not as good as his 2008 defense and the offense is not as good, but he says they are happy to be where they are right now.

Patterson says the Horned Frogs need to limit mistakes against the Cyclones.
