State economic development officials approved financial help for six companies Friday. The Iowa Economic Development Authority awarded tax benefits to Alfagomma America to move its stainless steel tube production from its plant in Italy to its only U.S. plant in Burlington.

The company is investing 1.3 million dollars and is expected to create 14 new jobs.

DENSO Manufacturing of Michigan will receive tax benefits for a proposed assembly facility in Urbandale. The facility is expected to create seven jobs. Generation Repair and Service is getting tax benefits to expand its plant which fixes components for wind generators.

The Story City company plans to invest over $10-million and create seven jobs. The Sioux Center-based Interstate Companies plans to remodel a building and move its operations there with $225,000 in direct assistance from the state and tax benefits. The project is expected to create 45 jobs.

Iowa Drying and Processing in Sibley is getting $150,000 to start up its company and create 30 jobs. Ohler Pump in Janesville has won a contract from the U.S. Marines for pumps and was awarded $36,000 as well as tax benefits for the company to expand.

The company is expected to create 9 new jobs.
