A semi tractor, reported stolen in Davenport, led law enforcement officers on a chase last night on Interstate 80. The 2005 International semi tractor was spotted by Iowa state troopers on I-80 westbound near the Walcott exit around 10:15 p.m.

A release from the state patrol indicates troopers activated their lights and sirens, but the driver of the semi refused to stop. The semi ran over several stop sticks and continued on its rims.

The driver, later identified as 47-year-old Elbert Karr, Jr. of Davenport, exited I-80 at Atalissa. The semi was on a gravel road when a Cedar County Sheriff’s Department vehicle struck the semi in an attempt to stop it. The semi entered a ditch and became stuck.

Charges are pending against Karr, who was taken to a hospital. There’s no word on the extent of his injuries. No law enforcement officers were injured.
