Speculation about the 2016 presidential race has begun in Iowa.

Marco Rubio, a Florida Senator who is a rising star in the Republican Party, will speak at campaign fundraiser for Governor Branstad on November 17. He’s the first potential 2016 candidate to schedule a post-Election Day visit to Iowa.

A host of others like Republican Governors Rick Perry, Bobby Jindal and Bob McDonnell visited the state this fall, to campaign for Mitt Romney — moves that boosted their own name recognition among Iowa Republican Party activists.

There’ll be a wide open race among Democrats in 2016, too. Vice President Joe Biden told a reporter on Election Day that he anticipates he’ll be running for office again — although Biden did not specify which office.
