Le Mars residents found less information that they are used to in their new phone books.

Folks living in the northwest Iowa town of Le Mars recently received their new telephone directories, but there was something missing.

The problem is the new directories failed to list the number for the Le Mars City Hall and all of the city’s services.

The only city services featured are the Ambulance and the Fire Department which lists the 9-1-1 emergency number. In addition to the city hall number missing, also absent are telephone numbers for the police, library, wastewater treatment facility, the water department, street department, parks and recreation and a host of other city services.

Last year’s directory featured 20 city services and their phone numbers. What’s more, this past Saturday, Le Mars held a paper recycling program, and many of the residents tossed away last year’s directory. City officials have held discussions with Frontier Telephone Company about the problem.

Frontier says they will distribute supplemental inserts to their customers featuring the missing numbers.
