A Mason City man is jailed after leading officers on a chase in the northwestern part of town. The North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force says they attempted to stop 32-year-old Corey Gardner on Wednesday afternoon on a suspended driver charge.

Gardner took off, with Cerro Gordo County sheriff’s deputies and Mason City police assisting in the pursuit of the vehicle. At one point, a deputy attempted a legal intervention which resulted in damage to the deputy’s vehicle.

After driving several blocks, Gardner and a passenger, 43-year-old Stephanie Lewis, attempted to flee the vehicle, with both suspects being apprehended after a short foot chase. Authorities say a significant amount of money and narcotics were taken as evidence at the time of the arrest.

Gardner is facing multiple charges, including possession with the intent to deliver meth and eluding law enforcement. Gardner is being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail on $100,000 bond. Lewis was detained but was not arrested.
