A man from central Nebraska will spend more than seven years in a federal prison for traveling to eastern Iowa to try to have sex with a minor.

Thirty-year-old Robert Andrew Larson of Cozad, Nebraska, pled guilty to traveling across state lines to engage in illegal sexual activities with a minor. His sentence was handed down Thursday.

This past February Larson had what prosecutors describe as “sexually explicit” chats on the internet with someone Larson thought was a 13-year-old girl. It was actually an undercover cop, posing as a girl. On February 16. Larson went to a hotel in Clinton, Iowa, thinking he’d meet the girl there. Instead, he met law enforcement and was arrested.
